It’s spring again, and that always cheers me up. The days are getting longer, the sun is shining more often, and across various parts of the city you can enjoy a hundred thousand tulips in bloom. Every year, from the beginning to the end of April, the “Tulip Festival” kicks off in Amsterdam. Along prominent routes and at well-known spots, you can enjoy beautiful tulips and a riot of colour. It really is a feast for the eyes. And for the photographers amongst us: it’s the best time to take photos of the city!

Keukenhof also opens its doors around this time of year. Many of our hotel guests therefore come to our hotel to visit the tulips at Keukenhof, amongst other things. As I write this blog, the Netherlands is still in lockdown. This means that travelling is still not easy, which also makes it difficult to visit the beautiful tulip fields. But don’t worry. I’ve been out and about on your behalf to capture the most beautiful spots. That way, you can still enjoy a little of the splendour of the tulips in our city. And perhaps I’ll inspire you to free up a slot in your diary for a visit to our hotel next spring, so you can come and admire the tulips with your own eyes.

In Amsterdam
As I mentioned in the introduction, from the beginning of April to the end of April, Amsterdam is transformed into a tulip paradise. Places such as Dam Square, the Rokin, Museumplein and the Magere Brug will be decorated with tulips. For more information about the “Tulip Festival”, please visit the Iamsterdam website.

Keukenhof
I visited Keukenhof for the first time two years ago. It was only when I saw it with my own eyes that I realised why everyone says it’s such a special place. So many different tulips all in one place. All those colours and all those flowers – it really made an impression on me. Unfortunately, because of the coronavirus, you can’t visit Keukenhof this year.

As well as all of the above, you can of course also choose to have a bunch of tulips placed in your hotel room, so that you can enjoy them up close in a different way. This can be arranged before your visit to our hotel. But you can also buy the tulips yourself. My favourite place is Sijmons Bloemen. You can find them at 158 Gerard Doustraat.
